Sojourn

If tmax = Ro/k" = t, then 63% of the particles survive their sojourn through the reactor, compared with none for the piston flow case. The average size of the surviving particles is 0.37/ o-... [Pg.424]

This is a brief history of my sojourn through the human body. To fully understand my potential and my usefulness, scientists must invoke two disciplines the physicochemical and the clinical. It is the marriage of these two that makes it possible to make the best use of me. So, biopharmaceutics and clinical PKs must be studied in xmison. Those working on me must know how the population handles me, the physiologic basis of my disposition, and how the time course of my life cycle is related to my activity and toxicity. Somehow, the regulatory agencies are always very cmious about me. [Pg.339]

What follows can be rightly seen as a (long-delayed) afterthought to our happy Utah sojourns. [Pg.37]

It is appropriate that this volume is named Jens Oddershede - Adventurer in Quantum Chemistry, as Jens has always viewed his sojourn through quantum chemistry as an adventure rather than a job. His enthusiasm for, and dedication to, good and interesting science has been an inspiration to all of us who have worked together with him over the years. [Pg.510]

As my time at Stanford was approaching an end, my old boss Joe Blair at Edgewood and my mentor David Rioch at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) simultaneously requested my assignment to their installations. Both apparently believed (incorrectly) that my competence had somehow been enhanced by my 24-month sojourn in the magic halls of academe. [Pg.179]

Prigogine (who at that time signed his name as Prigoshin, a transliteration from Russian, doubtless inherited from his sojourn in Germany) then makes a fundamental decision, which will put him in orbit he chooses as director of his Master s thesis, and later his Ph.D. thesis. Professor Theophile De Donder. [Pg.4]

For the most complete, although still highly speculative, study of this mysterious sojourn in the Bavarian capital, see T. de Duve, Resonances of Duchamp s Visit to Munich, in Kuenzli and Naumann, 41-63 (this is a translation of the fifth chapter of Duve, Nominalisme pictural). See also the essay by Veit Loers, Miinchens okkultisches Netzwerk, in Loers, 238-80. [Pg.399]

It is a serious but frequently neglected problem that the analysis of the data obtained with the method (2) or (3) above is only straightforward when each molecule undergoes only a one-step reaction upon one adsorption sojourn on the catalyst surface. If several consecutive reactions (e.g., isomerization combined with hydrogenolysis or two isomerization steps in combination) follow each other before the molecules leave the surface, useful information is still gained (167, 168), but the discussion of data is more complicated. Metals like Pt or Pd do not seem to be a problem in this respect, as is the case with other metals at the lowest possible reaction temperatures. However, metals like Ir or Rh are apparently very active in performing several consecutive steps during one residence of the molecules on the surface, and at temperatures above 200°C it is difficult to avoid the multiple reactions (167). [Pg.165]

See Ref. 5. Catalysts supported metals, 0.8-5%. Apparatus pulse reactor, at atmospheric pressure of H2. Multiple splitting hydrocarbon is split off into C, pieces (CHJ before it leaves the catalyst surface. Terminal splitting always one C, fragment is split off during one adsorption sojourn on the surface. [Pg.181]

The exchange of neopentane with deuterium has been examined over a number of metal films by Kemball ( ) and over nickel films at higher temperatures by Rowlinson et al. (29). This compound has attracted interest because an a-P multiple exchange process cannot operate, and an process is necessary if more than three hydrogen atoms are to be exchanged during a single sojourn of the molecule on the catalyst. [Pg.249]
