The kinetics of paracetamol oxidation are first order each in [paracetamol] and [HCIOJ. The kinetic study shows that the oxidation proceeds in two steps. All the reagents were of analytical reagent grade and all the solutions were prepared in doubly distilled (first time from alkaline KMnO ) and CO free deionized water. A solution of paracetamol (99%, Acros organics, NJ, USA) 1.0 °— 10 mol dm was prepared by dissolving 0.151 g of paracetamol in water, and the solution was diluted to the mark in 100 cm3 volumetric flask.
