Picosulphate, sodium

Natrium-picosulfat Picosulfate sodium Sodium picosulphate)... [Pg.1884]

IV. Stimulant laxatives Bisacodyl, senna, phenolphthalein, danthron, sodium picosulphate, castor oil... [Pg.253]

In the colon, sodium picosulphate is converted in to the active comound bis-(p-hydroxy diphenyl) pyridyl methane (BHPM) which stimulates propulsive activity of the colon, prevents absorption of water in the colonic lumen and promotes accumulation of water. [Pg.254]

Following oral administration sodium picosulphate is not absorbed. In colon it is converted to the active metabolite BHPM, by the action of arylsulphatases secreted by the colonic bacteria. [Pg.254]

Sodium picosulphate is similar and is also used to evacuate the bowel for investigative procedures and surgery. [Pg.641]
