Sodium iopodate

Sulfobromphthalein retention is increased by sodium iopodate or iopanoic acid, probably by competition in the hepatic excretory pathway. The mechanism is not clear. Serum bilirubin concentration can rise, and there can be a slight increase in serum enzymes, persisting for a few days. [Pg.1866]

Patients allergic to additives, such as parabens in sodium iopodate, can react to them, for example with rash (218). [Pg.1876]

The effects of cholecystographic media on iodine metabolism have been discussed in SED VIII. Two cases of frank thyrotoxicosis have recently been reported following oral cholecystography. In both of these cases, symptoms commenced a few days after taking sodium iopodate (11 ). [Pg.352]
