Skin contact with diborane

Skin and eye contact with diborane causes bums. Although there is no evidence of penetration of the skin by pure diborane, higher hydrides resulting from decomposition will penetrate the skin causing systemic poisoning [4]. [Pg.334]

SAFETY PROFILE Moderately toxic by inhalation. A severe eye, skin, and mucous membrane irritant. Explodes on contact with dioxygen difluoride. Violent reaction or ignition with borane, diborane, F2. hexafluoroisopropylideneamino lithium, O2. Win react with water or steam to produce toxic and corrosive fumes. Dangerous when heated to decomposition it emits highly toxic fumes of F" and PO. See also HYDROFLUORIC ACID, FLUORIDES, and PHOSPHORUS PENTAFLUORIDE. [Pg.1120]

Eye contact If eyes have been exposed, flush immediately with water for at least 15 minutes while holding eyelids open. If diborane is on skin, flush the exposed area with water for at least 15 minutes, then shower and wash thoroughly afterwards. [Pg.336]
