Single-molecule magnets applications

Chapter 10, Liddle and van Slageren cover yet another emerging topic - namely, the applications of actinide elements in single-molecule magnetism. [Pg.358]

A very unusual molecule, hexaferrocenylbenzene (HFB) has been recently synthesized by Vollhardt and coworkers [38]. Synthesis of such a molecule has been long sought after because of its possible applications as multidecker single-molecule magnetic (SMM) material and also as a material for nanomechanics. However, from the molecular viewpoint, this represents an extreme example of a stericaUy crowded systan with the six H-atoms of the benzene ring being replaced by six ferrocene molecules. [Pg.82]
