The Solid—Gel Transition Temperature. This temperature, T, is a measure of plasticizer activity and is the temperature at which a single grain of PVC dissolves ia excess plasticizer. The more efficieat plasticizers show lower values of as a result of their higher solvatiag power. This can be correlated with the ease of processiag of a given plasticizer, but all measurements should be conducted with a control PVC resia siace clearly the choice of resia has an effect here also.

EPMA analysis for As in a single grain was just above detection (0.08%). As was confirmed by synchrotron ji-XRF, but not quantified. 

The smaller the sample, the less clean up. We can identify a single grain of sugar. For liquid, we need one tenth of a drop. We can greatly decrease the amount of sample needed, which means the cleanup is easier, the transport of the sample is safer. The least amount you use, the less concern it causes. However, you have to present that sample to the system, so at some point you take a toothpick, dip it in the liquid and then transfer that drop to the diamond. The hardness tests are classified according to the magnitude of the load. Macrohardness tests apply major loads that are greater than 1000 g (1 kg). Microhardness tests employ loads less than 1000 g and are commonly used to measure the hardness of a single grain or a very small area. Brinnell, Rockwell, and Vickers are examples of macrohardness tests, and Knoop is an example of a microhardness test.
