Simulation studies with adsorption column

Recoveiy of solvent vapor (dicfaloromethane, CH2CI2) fiom air by pressure swing adsorption (PSA) was studied, using two columns packed with high silica zeolite and resin as adsorbent Gravimetric measurements wete made for dichloromethane on the adsorbents. Computer calculations were carried out to simulate the experimental results using the Stop-Go method to show the calculated results coincide well with experimental results. The method is useful to predict the performance of a solvent recovery system operated by PSA... [Pg.509]

The assessment of the role of kf during protein adsorption in a fluidized bed may be performed with the help of a dimensionless transport number. Slater used the correlations provided by Rodrigues to simulate film transport limited adsorption of small ions to fluidized resins [54], In this study dimensionless groups were used to describe the influence of the system parameters particle side transport, liquid dispersion, and fluid side transport. Dispersion was accounted for by the column Peclet number analogous to Bo as introduced above and mass transport from the bulk solution to the resin was summarized in a fluid side transport number NL. [Pg.217]

Identification of the heaviest elements by studying their volatility is a difficult task. Several quantities are associated with this physical phenomenon, which are not necessarily interrelated. Thus, in gas-phase chromatography experiments, a measure of volatility is either a deposition temperature in a thermochromatography column. Tads, or the temperature of the 50% of the chemical yield, Tso%, observed on the outlet of the isothermal column (see Experimental Techniques and Gas-Phase Chemistry of Superheavy Elements , as well as [178]). From these temperatures, an adsorption enthalpy, AT/ads, is deduced using adsorption models [179], or Monte Carlo simulations [ 180,181 ]. The ATfads is supposed to be related to the sublimation enthalpy, ATfsub. of the macroamount (see Thermochemical Data from Gas-Phase Adsorption and Methods of their Estimation ). The usage of a correlation between... [Pg.174]
