Simple object access protocol

Communication with a Web Service (using the XML-based Simple Object Access Protocol, SOAP [974]) is normally comprised of uncompressed text messages. The invocation of a Web Service is performed by a specially formed request to a web server or an application server. No absolute guarantees can be made either regarding the reachability of a particular Web Service or its temporal characteristics. 

Generation of code for serializing a JAVA object, such that it can be encoded as XML and streamed over a network using the SOAP protocol (Simple Object Access Protocol). Especially, it has to be taken into account that the identities of objects are preserved. This is achieved by generating an individual identifier for each object. Using these identifiers, associations between objects can be serialized.

Mirth is a piece of software that enables HL7 of international healthcare informatics for interoperability standards. This software is cross platform and supports multiple protocols for exchanging healthcare messages, such as TCP/minimum lower layer protocol (MLLP), simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP), HTTP, and simple object access protocol (SOAP), among others [24]. 

Our installation of Liferay includes the version 6.0 of the portal and 83 deployed SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) web services. This case study aims at using the testing framework to detect flaw in a product out of the shelf.
