Silver perchlorate AgClO

Silver perchlorate, AgClO, crystallized from benzene was reported to have exploded with extraordinary violence (Ref 24). This compound has also exploded while a filter cake of it was being pulverized in a mortar (Ref 108)... [Pg.434]

Silica microrods with nanosized pores were explored by Li et al. [115] templated in the microemulsion system with water/TX-100/[bmim][PFJ. Synthesis of silver (Ag) nanoparticles by the photoreduction of silver perchlorate (AgClO ) in water-in-ionic liquid microemulsions of water/Tween-20/([bmim][BFJ) and l-octyl-3-methylimid-azolium tetrafluoroborate ([omim][BFJ) was reported by Harada et al. [116]. The average diameters of the metalhc Ag particles were 8.9 and 4.9nm in the water-in-([bmim][BF ]) and water-in-([omim][BFJ) microemulsions, respectively. We have [117] synthesized CdS nanoparticles in a bicontinuous-type microemulsion in the system comprising water/lL-2-HlP (1 l-wt./wt.)/IPM as 6.8/86.6/6.6wt.%. Particle diameter of approximately 3.2 nm had marginal semiconductivity and moderate antibacterial activity against E. coli. Li et al. [118] synthesized tetragonal ZrO ... [Pg.229]

The silver perchlorate [7783-93-9] salt, AgClO, is dehquescent and forms a light-sensitive monohydrate that can be dehydrated at 43°C and is soluble in a variety of organic solvents. Explosions of silver perchlorate have been reported (40—42). Gold forms organic perchlorate [42774-61-8] complexes as well as complexes with silver, eg, (CgH )2AgAu(CgF )2C104. [Pg.66]

Perhalates. Whereas silver perchlorate [7783-93-9] AgClO, and silver periodate [15606-77-6] AglO, are well known, silver perbromate [54494-97-2] AgBrO, has more recendy been described (18). Silver perchlorate is prepared from silver oxide and perchloric acid, or by treating silver sulfate with barium perchlorate. Silver perchlorate is one of the few silver salts that is appreciably soluble in organic solvents such as glycerol, toluene, and chlorobenzene. [Pg.90]

Silver perchlorate (H2O) [7783-93-9] M 207.3. Refluxed with benzene (6ml/g) in a flask fitted with a Dean and Stark trap until all the water was removed azeotropically (ca 4h). The soln was cooled and diluted with dry pentane (4ml/g of AgClO. The ppted AgC104 was filtered off and dried in a desiccator over P2O5 at 1mm for 24h [Radell, Connolly and Raymond JACS 83 3958 1961. It has also been recrystallised from perchloric acid. [Caution due to EXPLOSIVE nature in the presence of organic matter). [Pg.422]

Silver perchlorate dissolves in benzene and a crystalline adduct CgH AgClO (dec. 145° in a sealed tube) can be isolated from the solution. A rather old X-ray diffraction experiment (1958) showed a chain structure. [Pg.90]
