SiH4 rotational spectrum

Compared to spectroscopic studies of oxosilanes, direct observations of transient thioxosilanes have remained particularly scarce. Photolysis of matrix-isolated SiS in the presence of CI2 and HCl provided the first thioxosilanes, C Si S and Cl(H)Si=S, respectively. Previous attempts to detect Me2Si=S by matrix IR spectroscopy during FVT of either its cyclodimer or the cyclotrimer failed. Recently the rotational spectrum of the HSiS radical has been reported,while that of the parent thioxosilane H2Si=S is still unknown. The HSiS radical was produced on striking an electrical discharge in a mixture of SiH4 with either OCS or H2S. ... 

In spherical tops the x, y and z axes are related to each other by a set of four 3-fold symmetry operations. Consequently, all three principal moments of inertia are equal, so there is only one rotation constant, B. This arises only in molecules with tetrahedral, octahedral, cubic or higher symmetry, such as SiH4 (7.1, symmetry) and SF5 (7.II, 0 symmetry). Spherical tops do not have a dipole moment, so they cannot be observed directly in a pure rotational spectrum. 

In 1996, Izuha, Yamamoto and Saito observed the microwave spectrum of H2C=Si produced via a glow-discharge plasma in a gaseous mixture of SiH4 and CO429. The rotational constants deduced were very close to those of Leclercq and Dubois420. The vibrational frequency of the CLL rocking mode was estimated to be 331 5 cm 1, ... 

The overtone spectrum Av = 6 of SiH4 was measured with the effective absorption pathlength Le = 5.25 km [13]. The spectrum shows well-resolved rotational structure, and local Fermi resonances were observed. 

Silane, SiH4, has a tetrahedral geometry and a rovibrational spectrum consisting of lines spaced by 5.92 cm . Calculate the Si-H bond distance in silane. Could this information be obtained by pure rotational spectroscopy Why or why not ...
