Side-chain hydrosilation reactions

D. Synthesis of Silicone Elastomers 1 Side-Chain and Main-Chain Hydrosilation Reactions... [Pg.168]

Side-chain hydrosilation is a reaction between a main-chain Si-H functional group of poly(l, 3,3-trimethylsiloxane) and the vinyl group of a vinylmethyl-siloxy-containing polymer in the presence of a Pt-based catalyst (Scheme 10). [Pg.168]

Reactions specificaly involving the side chain to increase the functionality of cardanol have been examined in recent years. For example, CNSL and cardanol have found an application in polysiloxane chemistry and a significant development has been the hydrosilation of cardanol with MeHSiCl2 followed by hydrolysis leading to the incorporation of 0-Si-C bonds (ref.255). Other double bonds may be involved than the terminal one. [Pg.534]

Unil recently, most side chain liquid crystalline polymers (SCLCPs) were prepared by either hydrosilations of mesogenic olefins with poly(methylsiloxane)s or by free radical polymerizations of acrylates, methacrylates and chloroacrylates [1,2]. Both routes involve chain polymerizations, either directly or prior to a polymer analogous reaction. Chain polymerizations involve the four elementary reactions shown in Scheme 1 [3], In contrast to step polymerizations,... [Pg.123]

Moreover, dimethylsilane modified oxadiazole units were used to functionalize polystyrene-block-polyisoprene copolymers via Heck reaction or hydrosilation. The degree of side chain functionalization varied from 4-44% [98],... [Pg.834]
