Shirley Amendment

Shirley Amendment Soon after the 1906 act, it was realized that there were innumerable violations that needed attention. The Shirley Amendment was the first attempt by the government to remove fraudulent drugs (drugs that did not do what they claimed to do) from the market. 

United States Congress enacts the Shirley Amendment that prohibits false therapeutic claims in advertising or labeling medicines.
