Shimming monitoring

Once the angularity has been corrected by making the necessary shim adjustments at each of the hold-down bolts, it is necessary to correct the offset by sliding the moveable unit (i.e., motor in this example) on the baseplate. The top dial indicator is used to monitor the movements as... [Pg.929]

The deuterium line of the deuterated solvent is used for this purpose, and, as stated earlier, the intensity of this lock signal is also employed to monitor the shimming process. The deuterium lock prevents any change in the static field or radiofrequency by maintaining a constant ratio between the two. This is achieved via a lock feedback loop (Fig. 1.10), which keeps a constant frequency of the deuterium signal. The deuterium line has a dispersion-mode shape i.e., its amplitude is zero at resonance (at its center), but it is positive and negative on either side (Fig. 1.11). If the receiver reference phase is adjusted correcdy, then the signal will be exactly on resonance. If, however, the field drifts in either direction, the detector will... [Pg.18]

The water cooled copper power feeds are then screwed into place and copper shims of the appropriate thickness are used to obtain the correct rotational position for the assembly to the busbar system, which could utiUze the copper pipes used for the cooling water. Temperatures up to about 2650°C can be used, but erosion will limit the life of the element. At 2625°C, the total resistance is about 10 milliohms, which rises fairly quickly to about 11 milliohms towards the end of the element s life. Monitoring the transformer voltage and kilowatt readings can be used to calculate the total resistance from from the equation R = F /kW. [Pg.402]

A simplified and reduced version has been developed (Table 6.2), called the Sexual Health Inventory for Men (SHIM), and is used in clinical practice as a valid method to evaluate the severity of erectile dysfunction (Rosen et al. 2002). The SHIM score also allows the efficacy of treatment to be monitored. [Pg.41]
