Shell baffle

Among the topics of the TEMA Standards are nomenclature, fabrication tolerances, inspeclion, guarantees, tubes, shells, baffles and support plates, floating heads, gaskets, tube sheets, channels, nozzles, end flanges and bolting, materi specifications, and fouhng resistances. 

Carbon steel, low-alloy steels Transfer lines, beat exchanger shells, baffles, pump components, heat exchanger tubing, fan blades and shrouds, valves, screens, fasteners... 

Only a few popular and practical shell baffle arrangements exist, although special circumstances can and do require many unique baffling arrangements. The performance of the shell side of the exchanger depends upon the designer s understanding the effectiveness of fluid contact with the tubes as a direct result of the baffle pattern used.

Used shell-and-tube heat exchangers should be disassembled for inspection prior to purchase. Check that the tube-and-shell baffles coincide with the as-built drawing.
