Shape arylene-ethynylene

Recently Moore and co-worker further demonstrated the utility of molybdenum-alkylidyne-mediated alkyne metathesis in the development of shape persistent arylene-ethynylene macrocycles (178, 179). The approach utilizes a precipitation-driven metathesis that drives the reaction very efficiently producing ethynylene macrocycles on the multigram scale at room temperature (Scheme 21).
