Sewing snaps

Take a bracelet-sized piece of inchwide elastic and fasten with a safety pin so it fits on your wrist (if you re feeling ambitious, sew on a snap). 

When you buy the wallet, discard the insides. Get a set of snaps from the hardware store and put one just under the barrel so it doesn t drift around inside. Lace or sew the top comer of the wallet shut to further hold the barrel.

Sew-on fasteners provide simple, easy-to-use fabric closures for clothing, accessories, and home decorating. These sew-on fabric and clothing fasteners can be used instead of buttons, snaps, or zippers and are washable by machine or dry cleaning. Simply hand- or machine-stitch aroimd the edges of the tape and backstitch to secure. 

The ASTM D 6193 standard also includes sewing applications for buttons/snaps/ hook and eye attachments, buttonhole stitching, bartack stitching, tacking, specialty stitching and seams and guide to count stitches per inch. 

The removable fabric for microcontroller connection is produced by sewing. Similarly, snap fasteners provided connections the among main circuit and microcontroller. The fabric used for producing the base stracture of interactive garment is also used to produce both microcontroller connection and pockets for batteries (see Fig. 3.12). The conductive yams are again inserted as well as hidden in the middle part of knitted fabric. 

When the fabric around a button seems worn and you want to secure it in a new way, con sider a snap. The easiest way to install a snap doesn t involve sewing, but rather using one of two tools that not everyone has handy a hammer tool or a plier tool.
