Sertraline hydrochloride oral concentrate

Sertraline hydrochloride is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor for oral administration. It is chemically unrelated to other selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or tricyclic, tetracyclic, or other available antidepressant agents. It is supplied in a multidose 60-mL bottle. Sertraline hydrochloride has an average half-life of about 26 hours, and mean peak plasma concentrations occur at 4.5-8.4 hours. The dosage is 50-200 mg/day orally. Its major metabolite, /V-desmethylsertraline, is less active than sertraline. Adverse effects are as for the SSRIs in general. [Pg.72]

Ingestion is the most common route of both accidental and intentional exposure to sertraline hydrochloride. Sertraline is available as an oral tablet and as an oral concentrate (liquid). [Pg.2369]
