Rolling, flaking, shredding, serrating, and maceration may he used in some cases to adeqantely expose internal pockets or solute or uccluded solution. 

Because crowned material generates coils of different diameters and circumferences, the strands must pass through the tension unit at different speeds to provide tight coils. The speed difference must be enough to compensate for the apparent strand length differential. This explains the need for the special serration pattern on the roll surfaces. Card clothing n. The material used to cover the working surfaces of the card, i.e., cylinder and rolls or flats. The clothing consists of either wire teeth set in a foundation fabric or rubber, or narrow serrated metal flutes which are spirally arranged around the roll. The metallic wire has the appearance of band-saw blade.
