Sepioteuthis lessoniana

We also have been working for several years with Sepioteuthis lessoniana hemocyanin to clarify the structure of the environment of the coppers. Spectroscopic investigations led us to conclude that the two Cu(II) ions are each in a nonequivalent coordination geometry of very low symmetry (14). [Pg.341]

Materials. Hemocyanin was purified from the hemolymph of the squid, Sepioteuthis lessoniana, according to the method of Omura et al. (15). The dark-blue pellet of pure hemocyanin was redissolved in 0.05M Tris-HCl buffer (pH 7.5) and kept refrigerated at 0°-2°C except when the spectra were recorded. All the chemical reagents used for the experiments were of the best grade commercially available. [Pg.342]
