Separation of Special Cation Mixtures

It is frequently of interest to detect only a particular group of cations or even individual ions, irrespective of the other ions present. Separations of this type are described below. Preliminary separation into the analytical groups would be superfluous and time-consuming in such cases. [Pg.843]

TJOf ions migrate towards the upper part of the chromatogram in the solvent quoted (below) while Fe, Co, Cu, Ni, A1 and Th remain at or near the start. If a XJ02(N03)2 solution is applied, the daughter nuclide Th can be separated from it and determined at the start by activity measurements. [Pg.844]

Solvent Freshly distilled ethyl acetate-ether saturated with water-tri-n-butylphosphate (50 50 + 2). [Pg.844]

Mabkl and Hecht [14] have separated Mo and Fe from mixtures of other ions using silica gel G layers and triisooctylamine as solvent. [Pg.844]

Layers with exchanger properties can be obtained by impregnating the adsorbent with triisooctylamine [15] these may be used with various acids as solvents for separating mixtures such as U, Co, Cu, Zn Fe, Co, Ni etc. [Pg.844]
