Separation of Ir Isotopes

A compilation of six procedures for the separation of radioactive Ir isotopes from different target materials and a review of the chemical properties of Ir which might be useful for the isolation of the element, are given by Leddicotte [142]. 

However, none of the above mentioned methods Is very specific for Ir. Therefore, besides the usual Fe or La scavenger precipitations, in most of the proposed separation procedures steps are Included for removing other elements from the Ir solution. For example, the procedure described In [199] contains altogether eight steps for the evaporation of I, Ru, and Os, the extraction of Hg, Au, and Pt, and the precipitation of Pd and Rh. 

He jet [24, 100] and mass separation [71] were also used for investigating the decay of Ir isotopes.
