Separation of Diastereomeric 1,2-Cyclohexanediols

Purpose To demonstrate that diastereomers may be readily separated by 

Acetone and petroleum ether are highly flammable do not have any flames in the vicinity when they are being used. 

Do not allow iodine to come in contact with your skin and do not inhale its vapor as it is corrosive and toxic.
