Separation in an output stream with time-varying concentration

5 Separation in an output stream with time-varying concentration [Pg.66]

Let OT be the total number of moles of species i introduced into the separator by the feed stream. Assume further that all of m has come out of the separator in the output stream between times tf and t seconds. Let the output volumetric flow rate be constant at Qj cm /s. It is also assumed to be equal to the input volumetric flow rate. The number of moles of species i in the output between tf and (for t tf) is given by [Pg.66]

Note that here C, (f) is the number of moles of species i per unit volume of solution collected at any time t. Along with definition (2.5.1a), we have [Pg.67]

Note that with t° and = -co, such a profile yields 00 [Pg.67]

A simple index commonly used for describing separation in such an output stream is the resolution Rs of two adjacent profiles or bands or chromati rams  [Pg.68]
