Senecionine was extracted from the sources indicated in the following yields Senecio vulgaris L., 0.17% Senecio viscosus, 0.075% Senecio squcdi-dus, 0.06% Senecio aureus L., 0.006% Senecio ilicifolius, 0.02% Senecio pseudo-arnica, 0.02% Senecio integerrimus, 0.3%. On the basis of the structure postulated by Manske (19) for senecic acid lactone (platynecic acid), the structure of senecionine would be CIII.
