Entrapment of guests within self-assembled capsules provides a fourth method for the construction of chiral supramolecular aggregates. In fact, confinement of guests into cavities with a proper shape and size limits their available space and allows the control over their reciprocal positioning. This reflects directly into their mutual electronic and steric interaction and, as a consequence, in their stereorecognition (Fig. 4D). 

Peptides can be used to direct the nanoscale assembly of amphiphilic synthetic polymers. A common feature is that the self-assembly of the peptides proceeds as it would do in the absence of the polymer conjugates, with the peptide suprastructure forming a core, surrounded by the polymer random coil. The polymer shell acts to limit aggregation of the peptides beyond a certain size limit. A particularly striking example of this is the self-assembly of cyclopeptide-polymer composites, which form hollow... 

Despite these promising perspectives one must be aware that the utilization of the minute size requires new and comprehensive fabrication and addressing techniques. Extension of the present-day technologies to smaller structures or the development of techniques which treat chemical nanostructures with conventional technologies will not reach the true molecular size scale and will therefore waste much of the advantage of these structures. But even in arrays which are preformed by lithographic techniques, the self-assembling nature of chemical nanostructure helps overcome current size limits. 

Hearing aids that sit completely within the ear canal are self-contained and custom-molded. However, thin electrical wires replace the acoustic tube, so this type of hearing aid is free of feedback and sound distortion. They are not well suited for elderly people because their minimal size limits their volume capabilities.

Another method for making a method size-extensive is called the self-consistent dressing of the determinant energies. This is a technique for modifying the Cl superdeterminant in order to make a size-extensive limited Cl. The accuracy of this technique is generally comparable to the Davidson correction. It performs better than the Davidson correction for calculations in which the HF wave function has a low weight in the Cl expansion.
