Selecting the Controller IC

one has many choices in the area of controller-integrated circuits. One must decide early in the design process how much functionality and integration 

more than ever, the new eontrol ICs are targeted narrow applieation niehes. This typieally ineludes removing as many pins as possible from the paekage to minimize external eireuits. This severely limits the flexibility of an IC. This makes the seleetion proeess even more important.
