Segmentation Region-based

The aim of this work which enter in a research project on NDT, is to conceive a system of aid for interpretation and taking decisions, on imperfections in metallic fusion welds, we have studied and tested several segmentation techniques based on the two approaches ( contour and regions ). A quantitative analysis will be applied to extract some relatives geometricals parameters. To the sight of these characteristics, a first classification will be possible. 

Segmentation can be performed according to four different approaches thresholding based, region based, gradient based, and classification based. In current applications, the first two methods are generally preferred (Du and Sun, 2004).

The antigenic determinants of the native lysozyme molecule appear to include most, if not all, of the surface residues, as evidenced by numerous studies (reviewed critically by Benjamin et al., 1984). This point of view contrasts with that of Atassi and Lee (1978), who claimed a limited antigenicity, based on a study of surface-simulated peptides. Timp and Karssemeijer (2004) proposed an automatic segmentation method based on dynamic programming for lesion segmentation, and achieved valuable results in comparison to discrete contour model and region growing.
