Sedum sarmentosum

Sedum sarmentosum Bunge. Chui Pen Chao or Jing Tian (Stringy stonecrop) (whole plant) Sarmentoslin, dihydro-N-methyl-isopelletierine, N-methyl-2-((3-OH-propyl) piperidine, N-methyl-isopelletierine, dl-methylisopelletierine, dihydroisopelletierine.33-48-50 Antipyretic, detoxicant, diuretic, treat hepatitis. [Pg.149]

An interesting non-nitrogenous base was discovered during these experiments on Conium maculatum. It was also isolated from Sedum sarmentosum and Punica... [Pg.2]

N-Methylpelletierine.— Labelling of 7V-methylpelietierine (13) by [6- C]-dl-lysine in Sedum sarmentosum has been shown to be confined to C-6 and thus the piperidine ring of this alkaloid, like anabasine (14), is derived from lysine by way of unsymmetrical intermediates, and cadaverine cannot be a true precursor. In confirmation of the role of this amino-acid, [4,5- H2,6- C]-DL-lysine was incorporated into iV-methylpelletierine without alteration of the ratio. [Pg.4]

The biosynthetic derivation of the side chain of N-methylpelletierine (170) was established [443]. Feeding [ 1,2,3,4-13C4]-acetoacetate to Sedum sarmentosum and isolation of 170 showed that the side chain of 170 was derived from the labelled precursor as an intact unit. Feeding [l,2-13C2]-acetate showed that the -COCH3, but not the -CH2CO portion of the side chain was derived from the intact labelled acetate. A pathway for biosynthesis of the pelletierine skeleton consistent with these results is outlined in Scheme 4. [Pg.244]

The new cyanogenic glycoside sarmentosin was separated from the whole plant Sedum sarmentosum Bunge (Crassulaceae). The plant is used in... [Pg.737]

Sarmentosin (19), first isolated from Sedum sarmentosum [27], was accumulated in magpie moth. The high concentration of 19 in the imago (650 g per insect) suggests a defensive role for this substance [26],... [Pg.343]

The biosynthetic pathway of the pelletierine type alkaloids was studied using Sedum sarmentosum (Crassulaceae). Namely, the NMR spectra of N-methylpeUetierine and N-methylaUosedridine, obtained following the administration of [1,2- C2] acetic acid and [1,2,3,4- C4] acetoacetic acid, were examined. [Pg.132]

Prompted by Leete s finding which had significant ramifications for our thinking about the formation of the tropane class of alkaloids, we examined the formation of AT-methylpelletierine (23) and of N-methylallosedridine (24) in Sedum sarmentosum [40]. We chose to analyze the incorporation of [1,2- 2] acetate in admixture with unlabelled material into these alkaloids. The experimental system seemed ideal in that the alkaloids are not symmetrical and thus the regiochemistry of acetate incorporation could be readily analyzed. [Pg.187]
