Securing Automobile Architectures

Electronic systems, critical from a safety viewpoint, have become commonplace in the automotive field. Examples of publicly known features are ABS/ESP and speed control. Customer requirements and Enropean regulations limiting pollutant emissions via the Enro 4, 5 and 6 standards have made electronics indispensable. In an effort to make vehicles more environmentally friendly, the move to hybrid solutions and electric vehicles caimot be done without electronics. [Pg.345]

As regards safety, each manufacturer is required to place only safe products on the market [...] any product which, under normal or reasonably foreseeable use, [...] does not present any risk or only risks reduced to a low level compatible with the use of the product and considered acceptable with respect to a high level of protection of the health and safety of people [... ] . But what is the state of the art Or the state of technical knowledge and industry  [Pg.345]

Safety of Computer A rchitectures Edited by Jean-Louis Boulanger [Pg.345]

To answer this question, the automobile world is in the process of developing a suitable standard taken from lEC 61508 [lEC 98] ISO 26262 [ISO 08], which will define the state of die art regarding the safety of automotive electronic systems. [Pg.346]

Taking into account these various constraints has resulted in safety solutions for automotive electronic architectures that are very specific to this domain. [Pg.347]
