Screening for new insecticides

Selected insecticides and termiticides can be used for the protection of wood, wood composites and plastic. Due to the relative small market size for such applications, companies usually have no special material protection screening for insecticides. 

Some recent approaches use synthetic analogues of juvenile hormones (Menn and Henrick, 1981 Staal, 1982) or growth regulators. However in most cases the recently used test methods are not suitable to show efficacy of such compounds.
