Scraped coolers

Many scraped coolers also serve the purpose of creating solids however, these solids are often processed in suspension processes (see Section 7.6.). 

Vessel crystallizer with cooled jacket, installed cooling elements or rotating cooling system for continuous and discontinuous operation, scraped cooler, rotary kiln crystallizer, disc crystallizer, double-walled jacket crystallizer (Voltator), drum crystallizer.

An A-unit is here a single scraped-surface tube cooler. In Europe, it is generally externally cooled by liquid ammonia. The steel rotor is fitted with rows of scraper blades, pressed against the cooled inner... 

In the open literature, an A-unit is often a combination of several scraped-surface tube coolers.
