Piperazine fused polycyclic ring systems are unique in terms of structures and properties. Four triterpenoid saponins with strong moUuscicidal activity are found in the fruits of ivy Hedera helix Araliacene), and others in the fruits of Lonicera japonica (Caprifoliaceae) (Hostettmann, 1986).
