Scaling Factors for Tubular Reactors

The scaleup factor for inventory is the same as that for volume when the density is constant  

For an ideal gas, the results of Example 3.5 give an inventory scaling factor that depends on inlet and outlet pressures  

Constraining scaleup factors to have a constant value for the mean residence time is appropriate to reactor scaleups. The general scaleup factors are then subject to the constraints that Sthroughput = 5 and S = S Sr. Imposing a constant value for t means that there are only two independent variables.
