Rust, Bernhard

On January 15, two weeks before the event, a letter from the German minister of education, Bernhard Rust, dropped like a bomb in the midst of Planck s preparations. Rust attacked the planned memorial service as a challenge to the national socialist state and issued an order prohibiting all civil servants, including university faculty, from attending the event.
