Rotational, Fluidized-Bed and Slush Molding

Molding techniques have been developed to take advantage of the availability of finely powdered plastics, mainly polyethylene and nylons. In rotational molding, a charge of powder is introduced to a heated mold, which is then rotated about two mutually perpendicular axes. This distributes the powder over the inner mold smfaces, where it fuses. The mold is then cooled by compressed air or water sprays, opened, and the part is ejected.
