Rotary bomb oxidation test

Not only can molecular design improve the miscibility with other oils, it can also confer ILs with special functions, such as antioxidation and the ability to adapt to a broader temperature range. We synthesized three imidazolium-based ILs containing sterically hindered phenol groups with antioxidant functions and evaluated the tribological behaviors of these ILs as additives for PEG appfication in steeFsteel contacts on an Optimol SRV-IV oscillating reciprocating friction and wear tester, as well as on MRS-IJ four-ball testers [100]. The rotary bomb oxidation test (RBOT) test, thermal analysis, and Cu strip test results revealed that synthesized ILs possessed excellent antioxidation capability. [Pg.227]

Rotary bomb oxidation test (ASTM 2292) induction period above 1,000 min,... [Pg.138]

It has been demonstrated that the un-formulated PAO base stock treated with 0.5 wt% antioxidant resists oxidation for more than 2500 minutes in a standard rotary bomb oxidation test (RBOT, D2272 method). In comparison, similarly treated Group II and III base stock started to oxidize much earlier, at less than 800 or 1700 minutes, respectively . [Pg.114]

There are a considerable number of oxidation and thermal stability tests, mirroring the complexity of the processes themselves. Oxidation tests used include the Indiana-stirred oxidation test [22], the rotary bomb oxidation by IP 229 and other standard procedures such as IP 48, IP 280 and IP 306. [Pg.401]
