Role of rehabilitation in the workers compensation system

Workers compensation legislation as noted now generally places a strong emphasis on rehabilitation. Some of this legislation now provides that up to a certain percentage of the maximum amount, or prescribed amount of compensation, is to be used for rehabilitation. Without rehabilitation, workers lose confidence and self-esteem and this can threaten relationships as observed earher. They also become anuimecessary cost to general medical insurance and social security services. 

Process for providing rehabilitation in accordance with legislative requirements 

You will need to refer to local guides on how rehabihtation is handled in your jurisdiction. However, larger employers will have a rehabilitation programme and usually a rehabihtation coordinator or wih contract a coordinator (see next seetion). CJenerally, such people must be accredited to do this work. Every emplr er should inelude rehabilitation as part of their health and safety pohcy. Earfy return to work where possible it is emphasized, is a principal focus of rehabilitation programmes. 

Role of vocational retraining in rehabilitating people at work with a work-related illness or injury 

Some legislation provides that entitlements aren t lost where a return to work is not successful and some provide subsidies for trial placements of workers being rehabilitated.
