Ring partial

Chlorpyrifos (73) is the only phosphate of importance containing a pyridine ring. Partial hydrolysis of 2,6-dichloropyridine, followed by peroxide mediated chlorination, gives the required 3,5,6-trichloropyridin-2-ol intermediate (66MI10700, 67USP3355456). The phosphate is a broad spectrum insecticide with some vapour activity. [Pg.195]

Attempts to prepare the base by desulphurization of a-ethylthio-codide [xxxn] with Raney nickel failed owing to opening of the oxide ring, partial hydrogenation, or both [17]. [Pg.153]

Anthramycin is an antibiotic with antitumor activity. It is isolated from the growth of Streptomyces refuineus. Anthramycin (3.36) is unique in having the 7-membered azepine ring (partially reduced) present, fused to a pyrroline ring (a dihydropyrrole). [Pg.50]

The uncertainty level of this legacy varies considerably because of the fluctuating care given to the (mostly) calorimetric measurements and problems of reagent purity and reaction stoichiometry. Early on there have been successful efforts to systematize the database in terms of molecular structure (reviewed in detail by Cox and Pilcher [22]). As a result, one can compute a standard enthalpy of formation value for ordinary compounds (without strained rings, partially delocalized structures) that have not been studied experimentally with almost the same confidence that one can place in the experimental values themselves. [Pg.18]

One reason for this sluggishness is that electron withdrawal by the nitrogen makes the ring partially positive and therefore not receptive to attack by electrophiles, which are also positive (see Figure 13.1). A second reason is that, under the acidic conditions for these reactions, most of the pyridine is protonated and present as the positively charged pyridinium ion, which is even more unlikely to be attacked by electrophiles than is neutral pyridine. [Pg.393]

In the same way in which the annulene partially bond localizes the benzene ring, the benzene ring partially localizes the annulene and reduces its ring current. This can be very clearly seen for the molecules 47—50 by comparison of the chemical shift of the internal (methyl) protons with those of the parent annulenes, Table 4. The benzene does reduce the ring current of the [14]-annulene by a greater percentage than for the [10]-annulene, as it should, since as... [Pg.6]
