Resin infusion between double flexible tooling (RIDFT) Resin is injected into a flat fiber preform that is placed between two flexible tools. The flexible tools with the saturated preform in them are transferred over a tool surface, and vacuum is drawn to conform the saturated preform to the final shape of the part. Unlike RTM, here the resin redistributes or squeezes out during the applied vacuum which dynamically changes the permeability and the fiber volume fraction. [Pg.251]

Novel laminates were obtained by UV-curing after the resin was transferred by infusion between double flexible tooling process (RIDFT) [185]. The production time has significantly shortened and depends on the UV exposure interval. Experimental data confirmed some of the properties (tensile strength) of the new materials were comparable to those obtained by thermal curing, while others (tensile modulus) were higher. [Pg.135]

RIDFT and RDGRAD perform energy and gradient DFT calculations within the RI approximation to represent inter-electronic Coulomb terms, as discus.sed below. The RI option is possible only for DFT functionals which do not include the exact exchange, and we recommend the BP functional in connection witli RI treatments. The increa.sed efficiency of the RI technique is its great advantage over the conventional procedures which treat Coulomb interactions as in SCF programs. [Pg.3124]
