Ricin subcutaneous

Several cases of ricin exposure via parenteral routes were documented. A 20-year-old man was admitted to the hospital 36 h after subcutaneously injecting castor bean extract. Symptoms were characteristic of nausea, weakness, dizziness, and myalgias. He developed anuria and hypotension, followed by hepatorenal and cardiorespiratory failure, and died 18 h following admission.
