Muscle rigidity remifentanil

Remifentanil has been studied in neonates undergoing elective endotracheal intubation [178 ]. They were randomized to remifentanil 3 micrograms/kg-I-isotonic sahne ( = 15) or fentanyl 2 micrograms/kg - - suxamethonium 2 mg/kg. There was chest wall rigidity in two of the infants who received remifentanil. Muscle rigidity remains a concern in doses of 3 micrograms/kg in this age group. [Pg.164]

General anesthesia - Remifentanil is not recommended as the sole agent in general anesthesia because loss of consciousness cannot be assured and because of a high incidence of apnea, muscle rigidity, and tachycardia. Remifentanil is synergistic with other anesthetics and doses of thiopental, propofol, isoflurane, and midazolam have been... [Pg.872]

Remifentanil is liable to cause respiratory depression in children (33,34), as well as muscle rigidity, hypotension, and bradycardia, without increasing the incidence of gastrointestinal symptoms (35). [Pg.3032]

Side effects remifentanil may cause adverse effects characteristic of p opioids, such as respiratory depression, bradycardia, hypotension, primitus, and skeletal muscle rigidity. [Pg.149]

Bolus remifentanil can be associated with thoracic muscle rigidity and consequent difficulty in mask or pressure-controlled ventilation [166 ]. [Pg.223]
