One of the most extensively studied POA for the preparation of controlled DDS is the poly[(carboxy phenoxypropane)-(sebacic acid)] P(CPP-SA). This polymer exhibits zero-order release kinetics of the incorporated drug and the release period of time can range from days to years, depending on the ratio of the co-monomers and the molecular weight of the polymer. In 1996, the FDA approved the use of P(CPP-SA) (molar ratio 20 80) for the local controlled release of the chemotherapeutic BCNU, used in the treatment of recurrent gliomas (GLIADEL ) [59],...
