Recognition primed decision making

Klein (1989, 1998) developed the theory of recognition-primed decision making on the basis of observations of firefighters and other professionals in their naturalistic environments. He found that up to 80% of the decisions made by firefighters involved some sort of situation recognition, where the decision makers simply followed a past behavior pattern once they recognized the situation. [Pg.2206]
