The A3 adenosine receptor is different from the other three subtypes in many ways. Sequence identity of the human subtype to the human A1( A2A and A2B is only 54%, 46% and 43%, respectively, compared to 56% between A and A2A (Table 3.1). Also, the identity between species is remarkably low compared to other receptor subtypes (Table 3.2). The considerable species variation of the A3 adenosine receptor is also evident from a comparison of dendrograms. The high conservation of the... [Pg.51]

Ffe. 5.14 Dendrogram of the protein sequences of chemosensory receptors and G-protein-coupled receptors, GPCRs. Although rhodopsin and serotonin receptors are clearly related between humans and Drosophila, the Drosophila olfactory receptors are unrelated to the olfactory receptors in vertebrates. Figure 1. Dendrogram. The human 5-HTi [10], 5-HT,p [2], 5-HT p [6], 5-HTiut,[ll], rat 5-HT,b [12], 5-HT,c [13] and S-HTj [14] receptors were compared based on their sequence similarity. The relative lengths of the bars are inversely proportional to their sequence homology. Figure 1. Dendrogram.
