Nitrogen trifluoride is fluorinated by Krp2 in the presence of Lewis acids such as BF3, Tip4, PF5, SbFg, or NbFg to give perfluoroammonium salts. The reaction can be carried out in liquid anhydrous HF [1, 2] or in the gas phase [2]. For more details, see p. 165.
