Reactions of alkaline earth dihalides

This is analogous to CsBr + ICl and involves end-on attack to yield (Bal) (I—H—Cl) and gives direct back scattering of the BalCl product. [Pg.485]

The CO vibrational population distribution observed in the reaction with C02 was found to be statistical assuming a long-lived CH2C02 intermediate is formed. However, the CO distribution from the reaction CH2 + 02 is cooler than the statistical prediction. It is suggested that CO may be produced by more than one channel, such as HCOOH giving H20 + CO and HCO + OH, where the HCO may then undergo a subsequent decomposition to yield cooler CO. [Pg.487]
