Reactions Gmelin database

Although the Gmelin database is not specifically a reaction database, it contains more than 300,900 reactions. Together with Beilstein, it provides the biggest time coverage. The following list shows subfields for reactions. 

CHEMINFORMRX from FlZ-Chemie Berlin and CHEMRE CT from Springer-Vedag Infochem GmbH are other databases covering reaction information area. Reaction information is also available from Bedstein, Gmelin, and CA. 

While the major printed abstracting services for and handbooks of compounds (structures) (e.g., CA, Beilstein, and Gmelin) are available as databases in their entirety or for major parts (e.g., 13.2 million of the 16.9 million articles abstracted by CAS from 1907 to 1996), this is not true for all printed sources for reactions. Cheminform RX and Chemreact are further reaction databases. For searching older publications search the databases Beilstein and Gmelin (Sects. 7.10 and 7.11). 

Beilstein is not a specific database for reactions, but nevertheless it contains more than 550,000 reactions and 4.5 million preparations. True reaction databases, eg. CASREACT, Cheminform RX and Chemreact contain only recent data. Beilstein and Gmelin (Sect. 7.11) cover the period back to the 18th century.
