Reaction with Metal Nanofilms

Our proposed mechanism of lithium reversible storage in both alloying and non-alloying metal nanofilms on surface metal-oxygen bonds and in grain boundaries should be sustained by further evidences by local probe methods and first principles of computational approaches. 

Metal nanofilm electrodes were prepared by physical evaporation directly on the internal surfaces of a positive can of 2016 stainless coin cells. Weighted metal chunks and cans were preliminarily rinsed with ethanol and dried in a vacuum oven at 150°C for a couple of hours. Then they were rapidly transferred into the evaporation chamber. Metal chunks were loaded into a tungsten basket and the cans were put into a multicell holder beneath the tungsten
