Reaction with dioxygenyl hexafluoroantimonate V

When carbon monoxide is swept over powdered [Oj][SbFg] at ambient temperature, a rapid and exothermic reaction takes place producing dioxygen and carbonyl difluoride according to [1944]  [Pg.562]

At 150-180 C (and between 13-20 kPa), carbon monoxide reacts with OFj according to the overall stoicheiometry  [Pg.562]

The observation of induction periods of varying duration, particularly at the lower reaction temperatures, indicates the existence of a chain mechanism. The reaction is homogeneous, and is unaffected by total pressure, the surface volume ratio, or the material of construction of the glass vessel. The rate of reaction is not very reproducible, but corresponds to a second order system [81c]  [Pg.562]

The following chain mechanism was assumed, based on the overall stoicheiometry  [Pg.562]

Between 180 and 200 C, carbonyl difluoride reacts further with OF to give CF3OF as the main reaction product [81c]. [Pg.562]
